We are sure that many new players to this type of role play (or even veterans) are going to have questions about this type of room. Please peruse this thread and look for the answers to any questions you might have before asking them.

Who's in charge around here?

FableTown depends on you, the players, for its success. However, it does recognize a Council for various reasons, such as approving/denying characters, maintaining the website and message board, acting as a liaison between the room and ImagineChat, and developing storylines for players to participate in.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact a council member.

What do I need to start playing in the room?

First of all, you need to register to use this message board.

Then you need to choose / create a character to play. Instructions for registering a character in Fabletown can be found here.

Then, you simply need to wait for one of the council members to review your request and make sure everything is in place and acceptable. Once this is done, your character will most likely be approved and you may start playing.

Why do I have to register my character?

FableTown is a different sort of roleplay room that many people may be experienced with. Because it is based loosely on the Fables comic series, there are many comic book characters that players may register to play, without creating their own from scratch. And thus, we need a registry to keep track of which comic characters are being played, to prevent more than one person from playing the same character.

How many characters can I play?

At this time, we've decided to allow you to pick three (3) characters to play in FableTown. Since the room is sectioned into three separate geographical areas, we strongly suggest that you pick one character from each location to play. This way, the roleplay will be spread out across the "globe" and you will always have a character to join in the majority of the roleplay, whether it is in FableTown, the Farm, or in the Homelands at the time.

How can I find more information?

If you are interested in more information regarding FableTown, we suggest you browse our website (coming soon). It is currently under construction and will be updated as much as possible by Council.

Can I change / update my character sheet?

This depends. If you have role played out the changes you wish to happen, and you have gotten the ok from Council, to implement these changes, then yes, you may update your character's sheet. Please do this as a reply to your original post, and a Council member will edit it in for you. However, they might ask for a script to show that you have genuinely roleplayed the changes, so have a transcript on hand when asking.

If you have not asked for council's ok on this, and you simply want to change things, then no, it cannot be allowed. Changes to approved sheets MUST also be approved before they will be accepted. This is because we have approved your bio based on the information you had given us in the beginning. In real life, people only change as a reaction to their environment and whatnot, and changes do not simply happen spontaneously at will.

While we are taking creative license with the Fables characters and stories, we want to remain "true" to the comic. Please help us preserve this by making sure that any changes you ask for are keeping within "character."
