An attempt to define magic a bit more clearly for purposes of a roleplay system to control spell casting and magic use in the room.
MAGIC DISCIPLINES
Alchemy: -The user has the ability to mix and concoct magic potions and elixirs for a variety of effects. This dicipline relies more on many years of hard study and effort, than on natural power levels.
Alteration:- The user is able to alter the basic nature of persons, places or things. Also known as transformation. (ex. Transforming a prince into a frog, or a pumpkin into a carriage)
Conjuration: - The user can cast spells that bring magical artifacts or life forms into the present reality. The user must have a good knowledge of what he/she wants to conjure into this reality. The mass of the object/life form, or quantity thereof that a Conjuror is able to summon is limited by their skill and power level
Curse:- The user is able to place a curse upon persons, places or things. Curses generally place restricting or disabling attributes upon the target. The nature of curse magic allows for a spell to become more powerful if a purposefull loophole is written into the curse (ie - true loves kiss may break the curse, but no other force may then break it)
Demonic: Magical powers naturally occuring in most demon spawn races:
Dimensional: - The user can cast spells which alter, bend or even break dimensional laws and boundaries.
Divination: The user can cast spells that give him/her foresight or knowledge of events unknown. Such as:
Elemental: The discipline of magic which deals with control the four elements of the Universe; Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water at power rank
Combined with conjuring, the user also has an ability to summon Elementals
Combined with Magic Creation the user can also create Elementals
Enchantment- The user may imbue objects, creatures , persons or areas with magical properties. Effects may be far ranging, from granting flight to a character, to animating objects into sentience
Faerie: - Magical powers naturally occuring in most cratures of the Fae races
Illusion:- The user is able to create illusions to trick the senses. Size , duration and realistic quality of the illusion is dependant upon the users power rank
Item: -The user can create a Magical object of any kind The item's Material strength and Power is equal to power rank.
Magic Creation: -The user may invest beings with new magical powers.
Necromancy: -The user can cast spells that deal with utilizing energies of the dead
Sympathetic Magic: - The users spells work through Effigy. (Example, voodoo doll- sticking pins in it hurts the character)
Thaumaturgy: - The user can cast spells that capture and confine others, rather than harm. The following are spells the user can cast:
Time Alteration: - The user is able to distort, even change time. Possessing the ability to send themselves or others back, or forward along the timeline.
Warding:-The user is able to create wards. Wards pertain to intricate spells that provide defensive augmentation to persons, things or places. The duration, strength and size of a ward is dependant upon the magic users strength
Wish: - The user is able to magically fulfill the wishes another. This magic is among the most powerful, and potentially harmful of all disciplines. The lower the users power rank, the more unintended concequences may result from the wish.

- Gramarye
- Learning
